Social recruitment technology company RolePoint launch whitepaper looking into future trends of the global recruitment industry.

london (PRWEB UK) 30 March 2013 – Social recruitment company RolePoint last week launched their free eBook ‘The Social Referral’ by leading recruitment specialist, Bill Boorman that outlines how companies can effectively utilize the demonstrated benefits of employee referral programmes (ERP) in the age of social networking.

Although ERPs have been around for decades, more and more companies are incorporating them into their recruiting strategies and recognizing the proven benefits. According to ERE, a recruitment industry website, the best companies source up to 50% of their hires through employee referrals and they typically have higher retention rates than employees sourced from other methods. There is still potential for huge growth of employee referrals as a method of hiring.

Currently the method represent only 6.9% of hires in 2012, but considering the fact that referred candidates stay longer in jobs, perform better in the workplace and cost only slightly more to hire, indicates that ERPs are set to much more popular among hiring firms in the next 12 months. Also worth noting is that on average it only takes 28 days to hire someone from a referral compared to 45 days from an online job board.

Despite the appeal of ERPs, RolePoint suggest that many companies are poorly implementing them into their recruitment strategy by making one of seven common mistakes, which are described in their eBook. More importantly it details what companies need to be doing through five recommended steps towards implementing a world-class referral program that attracts the best candidates to an organization.

As social networks permeate even more facets of everyday life, RolePoint firmly believe they represent a goldmine of information for recruiting organizations to better utilize their employees as a source of social capital by posting job openings on with their networks and referring capable contacts. While for candidates and job seekers they represent an opportunity to engage more closely with companies and get a sense to whether the working culture is right for them.
